Connect your assistant
Add Knock's MCP server to Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code, then sign in with your Knock dashboard login.
Every assistant uses the same server URL, https://app.knock-ai.com/mcp. When you add it, your assistant opens Knock in your browser: sign in with your dashboard login, pick a workspace and click Approve. Only approve a connection you started yourself.
| Assistant | How to add Knock |
|---|---|
| Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop) | The Add to Claude link |
| Claude Code | One terminal command |
| ChatGPT | A custom MCP server |
| Cursor | The Add to Cursor link, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json |
| VS Code (GitHub Copilot) | The Install in VS Code link |
Claude
Add to Claude opens Claude's Add custom connector dialog with Knock filled in. Check that the URL is https://app.knock-ai.com/mcp, click Add and sign in. To add it by hand, go to Customize › Connectors, click + Add › Add custom connector and paste the server URL.
In a chat, click + › Connectors and turn on Knock AI.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds Knock first under Organization settings › Connectors (open it with Knock filled in). Each member then clicks Connect next to it.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user knock-ai https://app.knock-ai.com/mcpThen run /mcp in Claude Code, select knock-ai and sign in.
ChatGPT
In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, click + › Add custom MCP server, name it Knock AI, paste the server URL and choose OAuth. Install the plugin, sign in, then type @ in a conversation and pick Knock AI. In a ChatGPT workspace, an admin may need to allow custom MCP servers first. If a label doesn't match, follow OpenAI's Add custom MCP server.
Cursor
Add to Cursor opens Cursor and adds the server as knock-ai. Or add it to ~/.cursor/mcp.json yourself:
{
"mcpServers": {
"knock-ai": {
"url": "https://app.knock-ai.com/mcp"
}
}
}Then sign in to Knock when Cursor asks.
VS Code
Install in VS Code opens VS Code and adds the server as knock-ai. Or run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and paste the server URL. Accept the trust prompt, then sign in.
Other assistants
Any assistant can connect if it supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in. Leave scopes empty: Knock grants what your role allows. Assistants that run inside a web page, such as web IDEs, aren't supported.
Troubleshooting
Your workspace requires single sign-on (SSO) or allows only certain IP addresses, or you're signed in with another account. Click Sign in with another account and sign in with SSO, or connect from an allowed network.
You signed in with a link that has no dashboard access, such as one from Slack. Sign in to the Knock dashboard with your email address, or ask your Knock admin for access.
Admins, Editors, Viewers, CRM Admins and AI Managers can connect. Ask your Knock admin for one of those roles, or pick another workspace.
The Knock page expired. Start again from your assistant.
Connections expire, and end sooner if you lose access to the workspace. Connect again from your assistant.
A connection made before a tool was added doesn't get it. Remove Knock in your assistant, then add it and connect again.
Your workspace allows only certain IP addresses. Claude and ChatGPT call Knock from their providers' servers, not from your computer.
